You have to take what they say with a grain of salt, or smaller.  Watching someone “do” from a distance and critique doesn’t take skill or inventiveness, sweat or determination.  It is cowardice.  
And in ten years, after you have walked through the puddles, the briars, the potholes, and the doors that looked closed (but just needed a little nudge)…they will still be on their perch with all of the other birds, too scared to fly, but brave enough to comment on the thing they wish they could be doing, but can’t, because the person they are really critiquing, is in the mirror
